Ver003Congratulations to Pablo Schneider on his latest publication (volume information available here). His chapter describes the work of painter and art theorist Charles Le Brun for Louis XIV.

The premier peintre du roy was one of the most influential artists in seventheenth-century France and held significant responsibility for the public representation of the state. With his well known monumental picture Les reines de Perse aux pieds d’Alexandre (1660/1661) Le Brun created the central tableau of representation.
